Mrs. Ahlawat has been practicing law since 1976. She founded the litigation practice at Ahlawat & Associates (A&A) in New Delhi in 1981. A&A is now one of the leading firms in the country in both Litigation and Corporate Commercial services.

She has over 40 years of experience in service, criminal and civil matters in the Supreme Court of India, the Delhi High Court, the subordinate courts and service tribunals. She also has vast experience in arbitration dispute resolution work, including company / commercial.

Mrs. Ahlawat knowledge and involvement in her area of expertise comes from the practical experience of the many roles she has adopted over the course of her career, a few of her assignments include arguing counsel for the State of Himachal Pradesh in the Supreme Court of India, Senior Standing Counsel DESU (DVB), amicus curiae in the Delhi High Court for numerous criminal appeals and murder references, special counsel representing the Punjab Government in their most controversial case involving State Property (Kapurthala House in Delhi), legal consultant for Delhi Agricultural Marketing Board & its 9 Committees, standing counsel for Netaji Subhash Chandra Institute for Technology (NSIT), legal consultant for Delhi State Civil Supplies Corporation, standing counsel for Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC), standing counsel for Government of NCT of Delhi for their service disputes for all the departments of the GNCTD including Delhi Police, counsel for the office of district and sessions judge to defend them in Delhi High Court, appointed special counsel to defend the Delhi Administration before various judicial commissions, member disciplinary committee of Delhi Medical Counsel which looks into the complaints of made against the doctors and hospitals by patients for medical negligence.

Uday heads the Corporate Commercial Practice of A&A. His focus areas are mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, corporate restructuring, private equity and fund formations. Having spent over a decade in the legal profession, Uday has a client portfolio which is both diverse and all-encompassing. His prime work includes various contractual services for embassies in India, corporate restructuring and advisory for the largest security and facility service companies in the world as well as mentoring and structuring for start-up ventures and funds.

He works with several domestic and overseas clients on a wide variety of transactions including inbound and outbound investments, both strategic as well as financial, mergers and joint ventures.

Uday has extensive experience in transactions in various sectors and advises clients on all aspects of a transaction, including structuring advice from an Indian legal and regulatory perspective impacting entry and exit strategies, due diligence, documentation and negotiations. Tania is a corporate generalist who leads employment, transactional advisory and corporate compliance work at A&A.

She regularly advises clients on entry strategies and on various aspects of doing business in India and has an experience of working with different regulators in India. She also advises clients on general corporate matters, cross border transactions including amalgamation, corporate documentation, slump sale, formation of companies (public, private and foreign subsidiaries in India) and joint venture companies and conducting due diligence.

Tania has also handled various corporate and real estate matters including advising on sale and purchase of immovable properties, title investigation of flats and land, advising various land owners/housing societies and developers in development/re-development projects, due-diligence for private equity investments, leasing / licensing documentation of commercial and residential properties etc.

Nisha Karavadra

Nisha Karavadra’s expertise focuses on Mergers & Acquisitions, Private Equity transactions and general Corporate Laws. She Co-leads Ahlawat & Associates (A&A) UK-India Practice.

Nisha’s collaboration with A&A, offers an excellent and responsive source of comprehensive UK-India advice. With extensive business and commercial knowledge stretching over a decade, Nisha has developed widespread experience in handling complex elements pertaining to the needs of doing business, both in the UK and India.

As part of the India experience she has been assisting clients, in devising tailor-made solutions relating to In-bound and Out-bound transactions and has successfully led various companies on their UK- India entry strategies.

During Nisha’s association with The Department for International Trade (previously known as, UK Trade & Investment -UKTI), a trade arm of the UK government has enabled her to work closely with Industrialists and High Net-worth individuals. Understanding their current business set up and their vision to grow and expand through assistance in the form of FDI, Market Entry Strategy and Visa advice was a crucial part of her profile.

She has demonstrated key qualities of leadership and diplomacy during her involvement in the highly successful Prime Minister Theresa May’s visit to India in November 2016.
